Is it better to exchange foreign currency at the airport of origin or destination?
Posted on Feb 02, 2010 under Foreign Currency Exchange |We’re departing China for Thailand (Holiday) and are not sure whether we get more Thai Baht for our Yuan, from Guangzhou airport or Bangkok airport?
Wait until you get there. And often you will get a far better rate away from airports and hotels. As long as you have enough for your immediate needs, wait until you are out and about in Bangkok.

In my experience, the rate at destination is always better.

Destination.
Airport if you have to.
Hotel if you need to.
Banks are the best.

Neither, exchange rates at an airport are the worst that you can get. Exchange currency at your bank before you leave on your trip.

Airports actually use the exchange rate to earn money so they give a really bad rate. So do it at the destination and actually shop around to see who has the best rate and all that.
